The year 2021 has brought us the rise of quite a number of dope music acts and so far, for many of these new guys, it's been a good year definitely and these are 6 new Nigerian artistes that broke out in 2021.

While some new acts came to the limelight with amazing introductory projects (EP's mostly), some gained momentum through hit singles or memorable collaborations. It's really been a year.

Without further ado, here are our top five breakout artists for the year. Let us know who your favorite is.

Lojay

What  had to offer was a breath of fresh air with a particularly unique style that combines witty lyricism and catchy sounds.

His debut, an EP titled “LV N ATTN,” is a 5-track collaboration with badass producer, Sarz.

The EP has not one but three hits and is definitely one of 2021's best projects.

This alone establishes as a major breakthrough act of 2021.

Ruger

The Jonzing World act has released two EP's already this year, one of which houses one of the biggest hits of the year, “Bounce.”

 has that interesting vibe that has received the appraisal and has been compared to that of Rema and Omah Lay.

After two solid projects, you'd expect that this guy would sweep some awards this season. We'll see about that anyway.

Ayra Starr

 is Don Jazzy‘s new girl that was unveiled earlier this year and introduced with an eponymous EP that had the hit single, “Away.”

Not long after, she followed up with her debut album, a very solid project that has gotten generally positive reviews.

The album's first single, “Bloody Samaritan” is unequivocally one of the hottest songs this year.

Jaywillz

 came to the limelight after his contribution to Olamide‘s “UY Scuti” album.

While most people still only know him particularly for his part on the Olamide track, “Jailer,”

's own single “Medicine” has become quite the anthem too. In short, Jaywillz  no small inside life.

Fave

, like Jaywillz, also started gaining mainstream attention after she was featured on Olamide's album, about six months ago.

Her track, “Baby Riddim” has become quite the viral tune too, and the emPawa artist is starting to become a sensation. It's really only a matter of time given how good she is.

Portable

Omolalomi is the moniker by which the Yoruba-born rapper, singer, and songwriter are known in the industry.

, who has been recording music for a while, just reached gold with the smash tune Zazuu Zeh, which he collaborated on with Poco Lee and Olamide
